How Rate My Contractor Works

Let's say you need painting, but not just any painting. You have a 2 story house that needs exterior painting.

Step 1

When you login to ratemycontractor.com, search for painters.
In the search results you will see which contractors in your area have been rated by other members. If a contractor is not show it will provide you the opportunity to create a brief listing.  The search results will also briefly tell you:
  • Company name
  • each company's current rating
  • how many reports they have received
  • CSLB number
  • Coupon (if one I s offered)

Step 2

Click on a company name to see their full profile
This will give you a chance to see the contractor’s detailed profile.  There are as follows:
·         Contractor business name, owner(s) name
·         name
·         address
·         services performed

·         business license number
·         insurance coverage amount (a feature/icon that shows how their insurance compares to other similar contractors)
·         scanned in copies CL
·         insurance # and coverage
·         workers compensation amount (profile will show how it compares to others in industry)
·         Facebook "like" button, twitter "like" button, "share this" button
·         About us (founded, years in business, size, why us, meet the team, custom fields etc...) (no phone or email addresses allowed)

You'll also be able to read about the specific types of services they perform (this is where you find out if they'll exterior painting), their hours of operation, how long they've been in business, the forms of payment they accept and whether or not they offer free estimates...

Step 3

From the company profile, you can click to read about each member real-life experience with the company one report at a time. All the details are laid out for you including my favorite section – above and beyond. This is where the member has a chance to tell you if the contractor truly was outstanding and did something “above and beyond” that really made their work stand out.

Step 4

Now you have all the information to select the right company for your job, so you can either start calling for free estimates yourself, or you can use our fill out a form to have the contractor call you at a convenient time.
